What difficulties are you having getting it all within actinic? this is what you want to aim for from both a professional and trustworthy point of view, but also an easy to manage solution. If using V9, you can even change the acatalog name to something more useful (if you are a new site).

You don't need to jump off a cliff yet, but you do need to see your site as an outsider will and that is what you are getting feedback on. The look of the site is fine, you just need to blend it all together now. I like the idea also, i did something similar on a forum a few years ago, it is hard to get off the ground, but i think long term it can be a real winner with a bit of luck. Trust is everything.

I'm on v6 and being new to 1and1 it was down to inexperience when using several domains with different root folders.

I basically had a very confused upload as I didn't realise I could set up multiple FTP logins under 1and1, so some of it was going to the main root and some of it was going to winacabin root.

I then uploaded everything to the main root - got that working, then set up a 'winacabin' root FTP Login and tried to upload everything again but I kept getting errors so abandoned it and went back and stuck with the main root if you know what I mean.

The cliff still looks rather appealing at the moment!!

I agree if you have V6, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

It all sounds very complicated to me, no wonder your knickers are in a twist.

Explain to me what you aims are and what you are trying to achieve and I will let you know what the simplest and most straight forward way of doing it is.

Well it's a one "product" site .... for our competition. Long term, it will be a different competition each month, but for now, it's a means to "selling" our house in a difficult climate and moving on with our plans.

          I basically have:

http://s180278736.websitehome.co.uk as my root 1and1 webspace and ftp login

          I also have:

http://www.domain.co.uk within that space, with it's own root folder and now with it's own ftp login.

I tried uploading to domain.co.uk root, however I just couldn't ever get it to work properly - I kept getting cgi-bin upload errors, ran out of time and so reverted back to the main root space.

The problem is now, we're live, I'm already taking orders and the advertising is about to come out in the press, so I would be very anxious about screwing it all up if I were to change it now!

If you are live then i agree, don't touch it, but long term you want to be sorting out that URL, it looks like some dodgy porn URL to me, well that's what Jonty said they look like, I wouldn't know of course.

Long term I would just be aiming to have one 'on topic' URL such as www.competition.co.uk and run it all from that following a typical business model for a website.

Ok, many thanks Lee. I agree, it must definitely be sorted for the next one.

Michelle - you cannot work your site as you are doing at the moment. You cannot add to cart from one domain and then have the shopping cart and checkout on another domain. This will never work. Ever.

Sorry about that. You really need to concentrate on getting your hosting at winacabin.co.uk working. There's lots of advice about 1and1 hosting on this community.

It does work yes although of course, I don't know if it works for everyone, that's the difficulty.

I shall keep working on it!!

Thats because it is one of the same. Similar discussion to the one about uploading to a url while ns changes happen

                      is the same as
                      http://www.kitesrus.co.uk/

i can upload to both, obviously theres a small problem with mox's upload
