I'm on BUSINESS PRO - £14.99per month (50% off - £7.50 - at the mo for a start up period if you hurry!)
8GB web space (I think clara gave me 500MB for my £45pm), and 100GB traffic (clara had me on 20GB, which I nudged over every month).
The control panel is so much nicer than claras and offers loads more options.
Help is well presented, and when I did call just to check on progress, was answered straight away without any stupid 300 option phone system diversion (although it was a little like those Indian call centres - but in Germany - where you can struggle to understand what thay are saying!). To be fair, clara were always quick to answer the phone too.
Whilst its early days, initial load up speed seems same.
If all goes well, I'm eyeing up the virtual server option for later, which at £25pm, sounds like a good deal to me.
If you are going to do it, let me know, as you can probably shave a day or so off the downtime, if you are aware of the process (I took my site off air on Thurs night, and was taking orders again on Tuesday), but had I known the time frames involved, I could have got away with suspend on Monday morning, restart Tues night.
All the Network settings that have been posted by Bill, Duncan et all, work a treat first time, including SSL.
I'm assuming that a virtual server provides faster traffic for customer and our usage, though I don't know for sure!
Being a sole trader rather than a developer, I'm not interested in anything other than that, as I don't require any greater control over my server space.
For you developer bods, I think it gives you the facility to sell on space, without investing in a dedicated server.
I only mentioned it, as the options are better laid out at 1&1 as opposed to where I was, so the route to upgrade (if I find I need it), looks easier.
Most of the regulars on these boards who are using 1&1 seem to be on Business Pro though - nice balance of cost to allowances.
Update : 11.22am - There seem to be a problem with NAS storage performance and Clara.NET Engineers are liaising with our suppliers in order to restore affected services to a fully operational state.
