I was contacted by PayPal (my account manger) in September last year and informed about this new payment platform and she indeed did say in writing that the fees were to be lower - 1.2% + 30p - there is a thread in the Payments forum.

Following up from our call I can confirm we have launched a new complete payments solution.
It’s available now in Sellerdeck with no monthly fees and a transaction rate of 1.2% plus 30p on your card payments.
      https://www.sellerdeck.co.uk/paypal-commerce-platform/
There are no set up fees or contracts. If you have any further questions please let me know.

Crucially, she informed me by email that the lower fees are not automatically applied to your account - you have to inform them, in effect "apply" and then the lower fees will apply.

I will have to send an agreement out to you for a lower PayPal rate but it won’t let me until the system can see it’s been activated.
I have her email if anyone would like it.

The development for this was scheduled for v18.0.2 but has now been brought forward to v18.1.1 and v16.1.1 which should be available for download within the next 3 weeks.

This is assuming there are no major issues during QA, as we cannot delay the release of those versions.

With input from this thread, contacting someone else at PayPal and information from SellerDeck, I have pieced it together and with a bit of luck it should be working now. (Subject to testing). Thanks for everyones help and info.

I must say Host-it support has been top notch whilst Sellerdeck support has been poor.

With no update from them regarding a question I asked a week ago.

The question was what is the latest version of Perl Sellerdeck will run on? You would think they would know, but a week later the development team are still working on it.

Last message from Sellerdeck was shall I get sales to call you to quote for hosting.
Buzby, I think I can answer you question re Perl versions.

Ok just got off a support call with SellerDeck and currently SellerDeck needs Perl version 5.24 or less. I understand the Developer is busy typing in the background sorting an update compatible with later versions, but timescales are as yet, undefined.

Unfortunately I did not spot that we were on a more recent version as the SellerDeck Troubleshooting, Website Analysis report seems to suggest its on a lower/earlier version
              Perl Version 5.028001
but on checking with IONOS its actually 5.28 on our Managed Servers which suggests the SellerDeck report is slightly misleading as it seems to be adding a 0 in front of the version so it looks older than it is. I am now looking at the options of going to Self Managed, (don't fancy that), have SellerDeck express deliver a compatible version of 18.1 with more up to date Perl versions (we are hopeful but not getting any reliable commitments or timescales on this), or swopping hosts, just to get our site working with SellerDeck software, and its only Monday morning.

This is further confusing as 18.06 worked merrily on my IONOS managed server on 5.28 but 18.1 does not. Its puzzling.

I think the message is that if you are not on SellerDeck hosting. Tread super carefully before upgrading to 18.1 or all your sites will stop working.

Since Host-It advertises and supplies specialised "Sellerdeck Hosting Plans", I wonder why they upgraded Perl to a version that is incompatible with Sellerdeck? That's where this thread started.

Josh has responded, and 16.1.1 / 18.1.1 are due soon. The timing isn't great for users, what with this and Brexit, NMI withdrawing fraud checking, and the introduction of PayPal Commerce Platform in quick succession, but Sellerdeck (the company) seems to me to have been more responsive/productive/communicative over the last year or two than for a long time previously. It's a pity the Crypt SSL / Net SSL issue wasn't addressed and fixed before it affected users, but there it is.

One option is to start moving the sites over to what they advertise as Sellerdeck hosting, but awaiting confirmation of the Perl on the site.

I don't think the OP was on a Sellerdeck specific hosting package...

I did start out on Sellerdeck specific hosting with Pinbrook, however over the years after Host-it took them over, when servers were changed etc I wasn't on Host-it Sellerdeck specific hosting by the end, for whatever reason.

I think the real problem was no one actually knew what the latest outdated version of Perl Sellerdeck would run on. If Sellerdeck didn't even know this, there there was no reason for Host-it to Know.

                          Hi All,

There will be an email sent out to all customers later this week, but I wanted to give you immediate visibility of this.

We've developed a widget for upgrading to PayPal Commerce Platform - this should hopefully make it easier to complete the upgrade. Instructions on how to use the widget are here - https://community.sellerdeck.com/for...merce-platform

                          Thanks, Josh.

Josh - That doesn't do anyting to address Crypt::SSLeay and Net:SSL deprecation.

According to support - yesterday May 24th

                            This is under development
When asked for timescale they closed the ticket saying resolved which it obviously is not.

It would be an untenable situation if Sellerdeck only worked on its own hosting because Sellerdeck was the only hosting using depracated modules.

Because this is a serious issue Development need to do better than that and actually publish a time frame for the change.

Apologies if wrong thread, I signed the agreement with PayPal today "Complete Payments" - 1.4% and 20p for debit and credit cards.

I thought I'd try it, and was disappointed with what happened.

Placed an order on my site - chose "Pay with PayPal" > "credit or debit card" > "checkout as a guest"

Put my details and card in etc but noticed the amount showing in the cart, and in PayPal pop up didn't show the shipping cost.

I thought I'd done something wrong so called SD and explained, the chap who took the call explained that no this is correct.

He said if a customer chooses an "early checkout option" - once it's all completed the customer is returned to selling site from PayPal to complete... and any carriage fee is added at this point.

So I completed the purchase and indeed at the bottom of the PayPal window it says,
We'll pre-authorise up to £XX.XX GBP on your card, then send you back to the seller to complete your purchase. If you don't complete it or the purchase amount changes, any pending pre-authorisations usually drop off within 1 working day.

I completed the purchase and as a customer got the PP emails instantly as normal and as the seller emails likewise - I down loaded the order and all good except the mobile phone number missing

Now, I don't known if this is the modern way, but as a customer I was disappointed that the shipping cost was not to be seen prior to entering my card details - for us, we ship perishable goods and the shipping @ £11.60 can be 25% of the invoice total on the smaller orders - I can see folk abandoning their orders at this point, feeling a little deceived maybe ?

Same transaction using my dummy account and the Sellerdeck checkout was completed in the normal, fully transparent way.
