Sending customer update emails in Business v9 and relay access denied

Is anybody having any problems sending customer email updates to their customers?
I keep getting the relay access denied email message. I have contacted my host (FastHosts), they have run some checks and confirm that it is working.
Actininc support keep telling me it is a FastHosts issue but I am finding this difficult to believe for the following reason :-

I have placed some orders on my site using my own personal email address as a contact. As soon as this is done, I receive from the website, the automatic order confirmation email. (No errors are logged by Actinic when this happens).
When I then use the email tab under the Orders screen and attempt to send a new email, for example, Payment Received or Order Shipped, Actinic generates an error message (see below) and no email is sent and I do not receive any emails for the test purcahse at my personal email address.

How can this be a relaying message issue if the software/site has already sent an email? I've convinced that this is an Actininc issue and not a hosting/server issue.

Does anybody have any experience that they can offer. Any solutions? Any ideas?

The error message generated by Actinic is as follows :-

Failed to communicate with the SMTP server.

    Possible Cause:
    1. Network transmission problems.
    2. Could have Changed the SMTP Server settings, but not Uploaded after that.

    Recommendation:
    1. Retry
    2. Upload the Site First, if you have changed the SMTP Server Settings.

    Resolution:
If retry fails, check your SMTP settings
    or contact your ISP.

    The error was:
58321maxschenker@yahoo.comError returned from SMTP server (4: <maxschenker@yahoo.com>: Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied

Post your network settings and the email address used. You can always delete these later.

      Hi there,

How can this be a relaying message issue if the software/site has already sent an email? I've convinced that this is an Actininc issue and not a hosting/server issue.
The issue is that the email are only sent to your email address, if you check the error log which I believe Support had shown you, the email server does not send any email to other email address. Eg <anything>@yahoo.com. Also the message "Relay access denied" is actually coming from the email server itself, not from Actinic. This was the reason why Support said you may want to contact Fasthost regarding this, and mention that although the email are coming to your email address, it is not going to other different email address

      Hope this make sense

Theres a blast from the past (or have i just missed your posts)- hi Nadeem

Sometimes you will need to use smtp auth to send emails via actinic. I dont know with fast hosts though

as mike said, network settings would help

Just for clarity, it's the sending email address we need to know about together with the network settings.

The easiest way to post the network settings is to export them to a txt file and then copy and paste them into the forum (remember to overwrite your username and password).

            Hi Darren B,

No you haven't missed my posted, I have been working behind the scenes in Actinic. As Mike mentioned, best to put up the network settings, But I also remember a past thread as well: See http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=2721, which was similar.

but what I still don't understand is why I have received a website generated email at my personal email address that corresponds with the purchase I made yesterday.

Feel free to try and make a purchase yourselves on our site. You won;t need to surrender any card details. Just select the "send card details later option" and make sure the email you provide is correct (Neilette from Actinic support had a typo in hers yesterday which is why she never received it). I can guarantee that you will receive and automatic order confirmation email from us. What I won't be able to to do it send you manually activated update emails.

                Anyway, here are our settings:-

If the message you are getting is "relay access denied email", then you may need to contact your ISP and get relay permissions set for the domain that is sending the emails - we use BT and had to do this.

I have already been in touch with FastHosts, my hosting company. They have reassured me that relaying is turned on.
Would my ISP have anything to do with this? Do I need to ask them to do anything for me?

It's possible your ISP is the problem.
                        Who are they?

It would better if you didn't block out the smthost you're trying to connect to and told us what email address you're trying to send from. If you don't want to show it on line then at least show it from the @ so we can see if it's on domain or not.

                            Mike

                            Edit: http://www.frazerpart.com/acatalog/error.err

OK. it seems to be from info@frazerpart.com (you didn't change it recently did you as something seems to have changed between 12/8 and 27/8.

                            Some things to try:

                            1. Use the same email address as you're using for the smtpusername

                            2. Try 'localhost' for the smtp server with smtp authentication set to off (clear settings before turning it off).

Can you also confirm the email address you have listed under the business settings?

Also can you confirm your using mailserver.frazerpart.com as your smtp host
obviously after trying Mikes suggestions, and dont forget to upload your site when you have made a change to these settings
