    pasting sections slow

hi, is it just me or does moving a product or section from one section to another in 9.03 seem very slow.

    example
if drag and drop a product from one section to another in the product tree it can take a good few minutes for actinic to update.

The same goes for reranging sections

Quickest way to kill a database can be via drag and drop - if moving large sections always copy your ActinicCatalog.mdb file first so you can roll it back. Best to also move one section at a time and not multiple sections.. advice from bitter experience

I have not noticed any big difference between v9.0.2 and v9.0.3 other than the v9.0.3 machine has less RAM installed

hi, will back up database first then
when we were on 9.02 if i pasted a single section with one product it would take a second or two
now its more like 2 or 3 minutes

I have also found that the performance of 9.0.3 is much slower than 9.0.2.

It takes Actinic about 20 seconds to recover after editing or creating a new product or section. If doing a click and drag of more than 2 sections I can be waiting minutes before I can continue editing.

I am really not at all happy about the performance of 9.0.3.

I have similar problems when deleting stock
Every so often, I run off a 'suspended ordering' stock report and go through and 'delete' (mark with red cross) everything that won't be getting restocked.
EVERY item takes approx 10-15 seconds to do. It usually deletes ok but, when I click on the next product it takes a good 15 seconds to actually GET to it

VERY frustrating when I'm deleting 50+ items in a session!!

im having the same issues, were rebuilding our site and have a few add ons such as multi image and it is painfully slow when moving pages etc making the task more arduous. is really starting to annoy me to. we'v tried a few things such as making the catalog.exe high priority but its doesnt speed up much, is there going to be a another patch soon?

Same here. I've recently upgraded from v7 to v9 and I am really disapointed with the performance. Deleting, copying, pasting, making any changes really to products and sections is painfully slow. It is not something I expected when I decided to upgrade...

I'm converting a site to SPP and originally thought that was the issue, but know I'm not so sure.

I've had issues this week with moving one section, every time I moved it up/down the content tree, I'd get a 'Out of memory' pop-up error message, followed by the typical v9 dmp file crash.

To resolve this, I made a short story long by moving every section but the section that caused issues. Actinic's been behaving OK since. Though when I expand the 'broken' section, the sub-section and product pages seem to take longer to generate on the Actinic preview for some bizarre reason.

Perhaps there's still some dirties in my database. From now on I think I'll just buy Codepath's plugin, as I'm convinced Actinic's breaking the database

This is starting to remind me of the problems I had when V7 first came out. Here I am, working on getting my V9 site up and it really is very slow for anything involving a change in the database. New sections, name change etc do seem to take ages.

V8.5.3 was positively snappy compared to this.

This was discussed at length when v9 was first released and it almost resulted in the forum being shut down as actinic towers could not cope with the comments.

The reason for the slowness was possibly due to the page preview constantly running in the background

                          even when it's closed??
Not disputing your post, just the (lame) excuse

I don't work with page preview open (in the background or otherwise) unless I'm working in the design tab (and I have that one closed when I'm NOT in the design tab) yet deleting products takes at LEAST 10 seconds per product where in 8.5.whatever it was instant.

It's poor and I'd like a plausible explanation sometime, tbh

Thanks Malcolm, this was the problem in my case.

I thought I'd seen something about this, but searching the forum brought up this thread which suggested it was something else.

Much faster for me now I've closed the page preview windows.
