Hi Tracey. I'm in the middle of a discussion with the development team at the minute to see if we can sort out a fix for this.

In the meantime, I think my workaround should help you in quite a few of your stock situations.

Just subscribing to this thread as this explains why I am having a hellish time with stock control too. With so many lines, colourways and sizes it's no wonder the site is already way out from actual despite a 31 December stocktake (and aside from the customers who change their mind on colour after ordering, they don't count they are allowed to do that when pregnant!)

        Is the fault fixed yet?

        Hi all,

I'm assuming that this stock control bug in Actinic hasn't been fixed yet. I hope we're not going to be forced to upgrade to version 8 to fix it as it's obviously something broken rather than a special additional feature.

Has Actinic got any news on this as it's quite a big issue.

        Many thanks.

I just want to confirm what the issue is.

The problem here is that the 'Max Quantity Allowed' field is not honored when the product is associated to another product via a component. This means that if a particular choice has a stock level of '1' (and you have set the 'Max Quantity Allowed to '1') then when someone tries to order 3 of that choice, then Actinic will still take the order. This is still an outstanding problem.

On the other hand, however, Actinic will give you a message when you retrieve the order that the stock level has gone down significantly, and you can then view 'View | Search Settings' to confirm the products with low stock.

If you want to avoid this from happening, you need to change the 'Suspend if Below' level to something like 2 or 3 so that you do not run the stock levels down to zero from the online store.

            that is correct, Chris.
And, while your "solution" may help, it doesn't aid sales if I am then left with stock on the shelf that the software is not selling, does it?
I hope the matter is being dealt with soon as it is a constant problem in our store where stock levels are kept at a minimum to minimise and storage requirements!

It also doesn't solve the problem if you only have one of the product anyway, many of our nappies and some of our clothing are one off designs and these tend to be the only products we stock control on the website as they are in limited supply.

So this is a known bug. I am another one that sure hopes we get a fix soon. We also run low inventories and if we have to increase the "Suspend if Below" to get a workaround that means LOST SALES. I link to an external Excel sheet that I update 2-3 times a day because we have sales of our online items also occurring through other channels and keep our master inventory in the QuickBooks Point of Sale program...

Really hoping for a good solution as this one keeps me up at night and requires a lot of customer "recovery" - not a good thing in this competitive world...

                  Peter,

I will add another vote on your behalf to the wish list for this feature.

                    Hi
Is there any update on this, as we are experiencing exactly the same problems?
                    Many thanks

Could anyone please advise on this?
Is there a fix for it as we are seeing the same thing.

                        Stock Control with Components

Thank you for continuing this discussion Sarah. I have not upgraded to V8 nor read a lot about it yet, but as far as I know this is still an outstanding problem.

It is too bad we can't offer component items for sale right down to zero quantity. We have already had many customer recoveries on this failure since our system is built to update all stock quantities at once and the "Max Allowable" feature doesn't work with components.

Let's hope we get an update from the Actinic team. Maybe we'll have to start a new thread on this...

                          Hi All,

This issue will be fixed in a maintenance release for v7. We do not have a proposed date for this as yet. Will update when I have the information.

                          Kind regards,

Unless I am mistaken, this problem is the same as the one posted here:

So its now 13 months later……

Shouldn’t we at least have a proposed date for a fix by now?

                              Pete,

The only thing I know for sure is that it will be after the first maintenance release for v8. As soon as I have a date I will update this space.

                              Kind regards,

Why is V8, that was only released a while ago, getting a maintenance update before V7?

                                How frequent are updates?
