This is because v8 is a new product and a lot of new bugs and issues are raised when a variety of users test it. We are not advising our customers on v7 and earlier to upgrade till v8.0.1 is released, this is to ensure that we have got hold of most of the issues and to provide a stable product for existing users to be able to upgrade to.

It is not going to take an eternity to happen so dont panic.

    Kind regards,

Just had to send out another email explaining that the customer couldn’t have what they ordered, even though it wasn’t shown as out of stock.

So is there even a date set, for when the ‘proposed date of this maintenance release’ will be discussed?

I assume project leaders meet once in a while to discuss and prioritise the issues. How far ahead do they plan? Are we looking at waiting several months for a fix or several weeks?

          I hope someone answers this!
As said before, we've been banging on about this problem (well, I have mostly but others have too!) for far too long now and every time a maintenance release was done for V7, it was overlooked time and time again.

If it's finally being addressed (and for V7!) then good...about time... but please don't try to play down the effect this bug has had on our stock maintenance and customer service.
I've lost count of the number of times I've had to email customers to explain that something "in stock" wasn't available.

Looking forwards to it finally being fixed!

We don't have a date yet for 7.0.7 as we are concentrating at the moment on getting v8 working correctly.

As soon as 7.0.7 is built and in beta there will be a notice about it on the community.

Thank you for your patience in this.

                Component Stock Control

I have finally got round to doing something about controlling stock on colours of products, only to find that Actinic has a bug that Actinic have known about and ignored for over a year!

It is absolutely inconcievable that a company that produces an 'Online Shopping Solution' should totally ignore one of the most important things in running a retail shop; keeping control of stock!

To now say that it won't be fixed because we're working on the bugs in the new version 8 is pure arrogance; to suggest you email every customer that tries to over order a colour and suggest they phone you is completely idiotic.

What is the point of software that allows a customer to order online more stock of a choice than you have, so that you can then cancel the order and refund etc., etc.

I was thinking of upgrading to V8, in spite of having waited since the 21st of August for Actinic sales to ring me back, needless to say upgrading is now very unlikely.

We are doing our fall update to our catalog in preparation for the holiday season. Ran tests and confirmed this stock control of components bug still exists.

Really need a fix to this before our orders and workload start increasing. Small e-commerce companies like us cannot afford to carry excess inventory to "pad" the stock levels - we need to sell down to the last item. And no company wants to spend the time on customer recovery when they order more than is available, needless to say the loss of goodwill...

Seems like Actinic is just not listening!

I can only confirm what Chris has said in the post above, this issue is slated to be fixed in v7.0.7. We do not have a date for 7.0.7 as yet but will put up a notice on the community once it is in beta.

                      Kind regards,

                        Old, Old Bug

Just wonder how quickly it would have been in a maintenance release if there was money in it for Actinic, or am I just being cynical!

I don’t think that is cynical, just realistic. They already have our money, and after spending x amount of our time setting up our shops we are hardly going to ask for our money back, even if in some circumstances the software ‘isn’t fit for purpose’. On the other hand version 8 will need to be reviewed etc and needs people to buy to it, so all those bugs it seems to have need to be fixed quick before Actinic’s reputation goes down the pan. In my opinion, the bugs like this one and the other little problems Actinic has, make free carts like real competition. Indeed, after the Nochex/Actinic/Port 443 fiasco, if it wasn’t for the Sage link, in many ways we would have been better of staying with …..

I think issues like this one should be made ‘sticky’, until they are fixed, so that any new users, don’t waste their time trying to solve a problem that is actually due to a bug in the software. Or have a bug report forum? Users and potential buyers should be able to easily check for potential bugs that maybe cause them a serious problem, not have to buy the software and then test every aspect themselves to ensure all the functions they feal are important work correctly.

It worries me that as there is not even a date set for a new maintenance release and it has been ‘missed?’, ‘forgotten?’ in previous ones, that there is little commitment to fix this issue.

Its now been 14 months since the issue was first raised......

Please tell us its likely to be sorted before Christmas? I'm dreading a christmas if this bug isnt sorted by then. It causes enough problems normally but with the increase in sales we get at pressie time it could be a nightmare

As you can see from this post on the 8th Sept, It's not that they heven't heard about the problem, it's just that they DON'T care. Too much loot to be made from V8 to bother about V7 anymore.

It is not the question of loot, more of resources and man-hours. Development are working on fixing this issue and it will be made available to test before v7.0.7 is out but will be a feature of v7.0.7 Maintenance release. I do not want to promise you a date but it will be sooner than later.

                                Kind regards,
