We've just had a run of declines on authorisations of authenticated transactions from the weekend, which of course we don't trust. Anyone else seeing the same?
We've stopped processing for the time being and will try these again later assuming they don't later show up as authorised.
Another couple recently, with 3D and one with out, so seems ok here, maybe you have some scammers trying to buy stuff
We don't get scammers, and these are transactions that were authenticated over the weekend but when we come to authorise (ie. take payment) they are being declined. This happens normally around once per day, but this morning we've had 5 or 6. Given the Protx situation this would seem no coincidence, but more likely to be problems with Protx. I hope it *is* a coincidence.
It’s not just you Simon- one of my clients has had 20 orders out of 30 declined by Protx over this weekend. This is not normal. You may get one or two where someone has accidentally entered their info incorrectly but not 20 in one hit. Surely it can't be that many people with dodgy cards??
It’s just a bit too much of a coincidence with the problems Protx have had methinks....
My client is considering using PayPal only for a while- is there anything special I need to do to switch Protx off if/when the time comes or is it a case of just deleting the row out of payment & security in business settings?

No it's not a coincidence, but it's worse than processing failures at Protx. It would appear Protx no longer do ANY checking of card data if you use AUTHENTICATE mode - please see new thread here.
As far as I am aware they use authenticate and have never used preauthenticate- they take care of the protx settings themselves - I just update the actinic bit for them.
I put a test order in earlier and changed the last digit of my postcode to see if protx would throw it out - it didn't & the order was accepted.
so yes definately a worry....

Anyway, the post code check is only the numerical digits and door number, so the letters make no difference, i use my CC here all the time as the numbers are the same
