Yeah it's not a host thing. We configured this VPS from scratch specifically for our client's actinic install and everything else is working fine, after a slight false start with actinic notifications not coming through due to the random two php scripts involved in that not having the right permissions.

Its not the PAYPAL notification by email that an order has been placed thats the problem...its that those orders arn't getting to the PENDING tab of Actinic (there just sitting in Pending Payment Service provider)
All my paypal orders are appearing in the 'Pending' tab. i.e. the Paypal IPN notification is being received correctly.

I have been talking again to PayPal technical help, and what is interesting is that IPNs that work correctly tend to have no retries. If you go to your PayPal front screen, click 'History', then 'IPN history', and you then see all the IPN attempts.
I had the odd one the other day that had 3 retries, but that one eventually worked properly. But then I am seeing 'No. of retries - 11' and these ones fail to move the transaction into pending. However PayPal seem to think that they have actually been send (eventually).
So I was wondering if Actinic is timing out? So even though PayPal eventually sends the IPN, the Actinic software is not listening out for it any more.
Just a thought. And it does not explain why it is taking 11 attempts to send the IPN.

Look at the IPN history in Paypal: Go to History > IPN history, select 'ALL' from the dropdown and click 'search'. Ignore any message saying "IPN is turned off".
You should get your IPN history displayed.

Iv'e just sent an email to PAYPAL:
Just recently (the last couple of days) our Actinic websites which use PAYPAL as one of its Payment Service Providers has stopped receiving IPNs (Instant Payment Notifications) when orders have been placed using PAYPAL. Has something recently changed ? Hundreds of Actinic eccomerce websites are experiencing this problem as can be seen on the Actinic Community Forum. Actinic are telling us that they are in touch with you to try and find out what has recently changed. Any information would be appreciated.
Thankyou.
It might be an idea to get a few emails sent to PAYPAL.....it might speed things up?

Same problem here. I use this PayPal from the client on several websites of them.
Most of them are self written shops, and I have 1 Actinic shop running on the PayPal.
All the IPN through the self written websites work flawless. Except the IPN's for Actinic, I check IPN history and they need 11 retries before getting through. Which leaves most of them just sitting in Pending.
Most of the websites are on the same dedicated server, so it can't be that the server is blocking them...
I hope there's somebody quick with a fix since the client is allready on my back now..
