I'm with the same monitoring service and have the same Not Available data for Thursday for my sites [edit] Hosted on 1 & 1 [/edit]- It would seem our service provider had a day off?

I believe the the term is Oversight [watching the watchers]. I actually had an unusually high number of ftp connection timeouts last Thursday and know one site was down at least part of the day, so seeing John's results with the same blank day was the first indication to me that I had not been personally responsible for my own lack of data.

Personally I don't see the point in momnitoring services, as you have to rely on the fact that they are 100% accurate, which they aren't necessarily. I think the phrase is false positives.

what happens if a router half way between your monitor and your host expires, do you assume the host was out?

Jo, you are right - it's only a feel good factor.

The checking frequency can be modified [in direct relation to cost of the service] but still all it is checking is that the site is reachable from the service points it uses. This does not mean the site is reachable from everywhere - or even from the intended market area - unless you are smart enough to have ensured the checking stations are within your target zone.

Lots of upload delays and errors last few days - Clara servers seemed to be more overloaded since the big fix last week.
I am alone in this, or are my fellow Claramen finding the same?

Have been OK here this week - had one time out today during a full upload (change to Act_Primary) but that could have been ISP based - orders coming through OK and not had anyone call saying had problems as they were t'other week

Uploads have been either failing mid-way or on slow all this week.
