updates installed - ipn still failing
our hosts installed the modules today, actinic script confirms crypt::SSLeay = 0.51 and net::ssl = 2.77
just tried placing a PayPal order (makes me cross that PayPal are earning commission on these!) it went straight to Pending PSP, i.e. problem not fixed
Checking the IPN history at PayPal for this transaction it says that status is "disabled"
looking further back all transactions back to 2/10 show status= "disabled" and before that, including transactions between 2/10 and 26/10 when this problem started, and before, show status="sent"
Does this mean anything?

Excited to think that this is now solved. Just a quick one for all you server people out there. I have been onto our server people and they have quoted 2 hours to install these two modules. We are on a Windows Plesk server. Does this sound about right, timewise I mean. I look forward to reading a response.
Regards.

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). Instant Payment Notifications sent to the following URL(s) are failing:
Then theres a link to my actinic perl script in the cgi-bin
If you do not recognize this URL you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your account.
So are they saying they could turn my PAYPAL online payments off?

The perl script installation process (for anyone who is interested) on CentOS (Linux) is as follows.
1. Log on via SSH as "sudo su -"
2. Type "yum install perl-Crypt-SSLeay" or use CPAN
3. Wait for install to complete
4. Reboot Apache/Perl etc
5. Test it has installed ok
It is a fairly straightforward process so shouldn't take that long. Certain shared environments may not allow custom Perl modules which may be a bit of a show stopper. Dedicated/virtual servers should be ok although each setup and operating system flavour may have certain dependancies. Any half decent server person will be able to do this whilst eating a packet of crisps - I did!
Hope this helps.
